What is it?
Concept
Fostering the participation of young people depends on many aspects. It matters what are the channels and possibilities for participation, what’s the culture of participation, what conditions exist. What’s the need of different stakeholders.
Factory of Active Citizens project is a renewed learning possibility for participants to have a dedicated time with support to design and improve participation focused activities for and with young people
Activities
07-14 February 2019 - travel days included
There will be a program designed by the needs of the participants. The training will rely on the methodology of nonformal learning but also it will offer different theoretical and practical inputs on participation, citizenship education.
The training is designed in a way, that it’s a learning laboratory:
Participants will need to come prepared in the sense that they are aware of their local realities and their goals in terms of activating young people and improving youth participation. In the first three days an intensive learning phase will wait for participants:
On the fourth day, a trip will be organized to see a Hungarian example for structured and non-structured youth participation to Eger.
We will have a chance to get to know the local youth policies but not in depth, to understand the structures locally, and to see the weak points: lack of motivation of young people. and the reaction to it. There will be some time to take a break too in the historical town of Eger.
The fifth-sixth days will be dedicated for planning ahead local activities with the support of the trainers and for dissemination activities: the creation of a booklet with active contribution of participants. The booklet aims to have concrete workshop outlines for the various target group to tackle topics related to active citizenship.
Participants profile
We are looking for participants above 18 from Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, and Spain. There are 4 places for each country for participation. What is recommended is to have participants coming from the same localities. We also welcome youth leaders within the projects not necessarily only youth workers and professionals. We welcome also participants coming from the policy level such as decision makers involved in youth affairs, municipal representatives of youth work etc.
All in all what is recommended to come from the same local level with a clear idea on:
Participants will be selected in a close cooperation together with partner organizations of the project, and pre-departure meeting for the groups will be organized by the partners in January 2019.
Financial questions
Costs for accommodation, food, and activities during the training course will be covered from the project budget. Travel costs will be reimbursed according to the Erasmus+ travel distance band ceilings, via bank transfer. There is no participation fee for this project.
Please note that selected participants will be asked to purchase their ticket’s upon approval of the organizer latest by 10th January 2019. You will be asked to arrive not later than 1.00pm to Budapest Airport on the arrival day, and to depart from Budapest earliest after 12.00am on the departure day. Further information on reimbursement will be shared with the selected participants only.
Place of the trainings
Hollókő, Hungary
The TC will be in Hollókő, the countryside of Hungary, 100 km from Budapest. The village is situated in North Hungary and it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. You will be accommodated in rooms of 4 with separate shower and toilet each. The house and the garden are rented for the time of the TC, in order to have it as a home for you and to have full privacy for the group. Light housework will be done by the group as well – daily cleaning, keeping the house tidy, and the cleaning of your own rooms.

Please bring your own towels, as the house where we stay is not a hotel: it’s a training venue run by a social cooperative.
Meals
We provide meals for everyone three times a day. All the meals will be served in the venue’s dining room. We will consider anyone’s special needs when applying you need to fill out a questionnaire where you can detail your special needs as well.
Insurance
We would kindly ask you to organize your own travel insurance for the whole duration of the training course. Insurance fee and costs related to it should be paid by the participants. If you arrive from an EU country make sure you have your European Insurance Card with you! Taking care of your own insurance is your responsibility.
Who We Are
Vanda Kovács
trainer
Youth worker. Trainer. Graphic facilitator.
As a youth worker, she was working in Budapest, at the former Cherry Youth Information Point, on the first floor of Szimpla. During those years she gained experiences about the reality of youth participation in urban circumstances.
In her training practices, she mainly working with the organizations of the countryside, where she is learning new aspects of participation.
One of her main and favorite themes is participatory planning and building with young people, and she keeps looking for how to adapt the theories into real, hands-on practices.
Barnabás Gulyás
trainer
Has university degrees from Hungary and Australia on social work, and graduated as community and civic expert. Currently a PhD researcher with research interest of impact of youth councils on localities.
Has relevant experience in the field of youth work, especially in topics such as active citizenship, democratic processes and project management in youth work.
Passionate about non-formal education and eager to contribute to improve the quality of it.
An active leader in a national umbrella organisation in Hungary since 2009, member of different networks.
Has numerous experience as trainer both on the national and the international field, working with partners such as National Agencies, NGO’s and international organisations like the Council of Europe

Dániel András Kelemen
admin & logistics
For many years, I have been the administrator and financial manager of many projects. As a student at the University of Debrecen, currently, I do my undergraduate studies in economics. I have over 3 years of experience in the financial and accounting fields whose knowledge is essential for proper commercial coordination of each activities. Several international projects were being led by myself in logistics tasks whose have been completed with success. During my work, I developed numerous new methods, which have a favorable effect of achieving administration and financial tasks quickly, accurately and capable of being traced.
